August 2005 was the very first time that I visited Nowata. Since a year ago John and I have visited Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery and all the cemeteries surrounding Nowata about six times. Each time we visit, we take more pictures and learn even more.
My husband John Wendell Farrell passed suddenly October 15, 2006
after returning from one of our many genealogy trips.

Her sisters Joanna Brown May, Ollie Helen Hall Rodger/Rogers along with two brothers Robert William Hall and Cooper Hall are all buried here in Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery.

Henry and Sarah are the parents of Mary (md. Wetzel), Jo (md. Mason) and Elva (md. Malcom, my grandparents)
Henry is the son of Frederick and Elvira Elva Hall Zelgar. I bought a headstone for my great grandfather Henry Zelgar, as he has never had one. His headstone was put in between John Farrell and Sarah Ellen Brown Zelgar, April 2, 2007.
September 17, 2006, John and I went back up to the Nowata area for the day. We gave Sarah's headstone a bath. It has writing at the base and it was covered in moss. This is what we believe it shows.

THELMA ELIZABETH BRASHEAR This is the cousin who started me on the journey oh so many many years ago to Independence Grayson Co Virginia. My Grandmother Elva Zelgar Malcom had me contact her. From the information I received from Thelma,I was then able to find cousins and family living in Grayson Co VA., and in North Carolina. And with their help, we put the Longs, Pughs, Phipps, McMillans, Thomas and all of the other related families together. Thelma and I did this just by letters and the telephone. As of Sept 1996 her brother Claude Chapman was living with her. I never heard from her again. She said that Chapman as she called him had Alzheimer and she had just been told she had cancer of the blood.
