Charles Burchert emigrated from Germany and arrived in Philadelphia Sept. 18, 1733. He is listed as Carolus, Paulus, Hans, David, Anna, Cathrina, and Elizabeth Borkhard on board the ship, The Pennsylvania Merchant.

Charles Burchert 1733-1760 married Anna Margaret from Flamborn in the Palatinate who died before 1758.

The family settled in Strasburg, Twp., Lancaster Co. where Charles was surveyed 150 acres on July 18, 1738. He wrote his will Dec. 4, 1760 and provided for his wife Annakinet. His home plantation was sold to his son-in-law Frederick White for 200 pounds, which was equally divided into three shares for his two daughters and the children of his deceased son Paul. Charles also provided for his grand daughter Catherine/Maria Katrina, to whom he was also guardian.

Paul Burchert 1716-1758 was a young boy when his family emigrated to America on Sept. 18, 1733. Six years later on October 16, 1739, Paul was married at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Holland, Lancaster Co., to Anna Eva Schwab of Earltown.

Paul was born May 1, 1716 - per Christ Lutheran Church in York. PA. He married in 1740 and died August 29, 1758 and is buried in Henry Bott's Burial Ground. Paul's first wife, Anna Eva Swope, died Dec. 11, 1756. They were parents of 8 children. Paul's second wife Anna Eva was the widow of Henry Becker.

Paul was a farmer and resided in Paradise and Manchester Twps. west of York Co. Paul and his family were members of Christ Lutheran Church in York. He was 42 years old when he died.

George Burkhart was one of the early German settlers of Frederick Co. He afterwards removed to east TN, where he died. He was a Democrat and a Whig. He had four children.

Charles H. Burkhart, son of George, was born in 1797.
